Ham is also another ingredient I almost always have on hand. Besides this recipe, I also use ham in cheesy Mexican potatoes, torta de jamon and huevos con jamon.
What is white spaghetti sauce made of?
This particular white spaghetti sauce recipe is made of cream cheese, milk, black pepper and chicken bouillon. This sauce is easier to make compared to other white sauces.
Other ingredients needed
- spaghetti
- garlic cloves (minced)
- white onion (grated)
- butter
- ham (chopped)
How to make espagueti blanco con jamón
First let’s make the sauce. Add the cream cheese, milk, black pepper and chicken bouillon to a blender.
Blend until smooth and set aside. Bring a large pot of water to a boil and add the spaghetti noodles. Cook until al dente according to the directions on the box.
While the spaghetti noodles are cooking, heat up the butter in a skillet over medium heat.
Once melted add the grated onion and the minced garlic. Cook for one minute.
The reason why I use grated onion is so that the sauce will have that onion flavor but without the texture of the onion thus ensuring a smooth sauce.
Add the chopped ham to the skillet and cook for about 3 minutes.
Next pour the white sauce into the skillet and give it a stir. Cook for about three minutes.
Drain the spaghetti noodles and add them to the skillet. Toss the noodles to coat them evenly in the sauce.
Remove the skillet from the heat.
Serve and enjoy!
Tips
- Roughly chop the softened cream cheese before adding it to the blender. This helps it to blend better.
- Don’t forget to grate the onion so the sauce will have a smooth texture.
- Use the ham of your choice. Cubed ham works well too.
- Garnish the spaghetti with grated parmesan or crumbled queso fresco when serving.
