Who doesn’t love tacos? The best part about them is that they can be filled with whatever you want.

We absolutely adore tacos! Whether they’re chicken taquitos, potato taquitos or tuna tacos.

They’re all so yummy and easy to eat!

What is camaron tacos made of?

Tacos de camaron are made with very few ingredients. They include:

Raw shrimp

Shrimp is one of our favorite proteins as it’s low in fat and high in protein. Also, we love it’s quick cooking time.

I use peeled and deveined with the tail off. This kind of shrimp is also great in Mexican shrimp cocktail or in Mexican seafood soup.

Blackened seasoning

This is what’s going to give the shrimp it’s flavor. You can also use Cajun seasoning if you prefer as it’s pretty similar to blackened seasoning. Cajun or blackened seasoning is also great on thin sliced chicken breast.

Crispy taco shells

This recipe uses homemade crispy taco shells for the best flavor and texture.

Oil

Vegetable, canola or olive oil all work fine in this recipe.

How to make tacos de camaron

Rinse the thawed shrimp in a strainer. Then pat them dry with a paper towel. Season the shrimp with the blackened seasoning. Mix well to make sure they’re evenly coated and set aside.

Heat up the oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once the oil is hot add the shrimp. I did this in two batches so that the shrimp wasn’t crowded. This will ensure even cooking and allow me to get the best sear on the shrimp. Cook the shrimp for 3 minutes.

Then flip them and continue to cook for another 3 minutes. Transfer the shrimp to a plate and repeat the above steps with the remaining batch of shrimp.

What to serve with shrimp tacos?

Some good sides for shrimp tacos are green spaghetti, fideo seco and Mexican rice just to name a few.

As for topping and garnishing the tacos, I suggest keeping it simple with some delicious guacamole or pico de Gallo for dairy free shrimp tacos.

Or you could also garnish with some Mexican crema or sour cream if you like.
