Pico de gallo is a fresh and great tasting salsa

Pico de gallo is the perfect salsa for the summer! I especially love it on the carne asada my husband makes. It is also great on molletes and is perfect with tortilla chips. It is super easy to make and no cooking is involved. Today I’m going to provide you with a basic recipe that you can adapt to make your own.

At my church I have a friend who adds green onions to her salsa. Also instead of lime juice she uses lemon juice. Her version is so freaking good! What I’m trying to get at is that pico de gallo is very adaptable. So try not to worry too much about the ratios just make it according to your taste. It’s also a very beautiful salsa isn’t it? Just look at those colors! I really love beautiful colorful fruits and veggies!

I like using roma tomatoes. Sometimes other types of tomatoes can be way too juicy but for me romas are perfect. For the spice factor I use jalapenos but serranos would also work. I highly recommend you try this salsa before summer is over. It’s too easy not to try it!

Ingredients

  • 6 roma tomatoes diced
  • 1/2 white onion diced
  • 1 small jalapeno diced
  • 1/2 bunch of cilantro chopped
  • lime juice to taste
  • salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Combine tomatoes,onion,jalapeno, and cilantro together in a bowl.
  2. Season with salt and lime juice to taste and mix well.
  3. Serve and refrigerate leftovers.
