Mexican Tuna Salad (Ensalada de Atún)

This super easy Mexican tuna salad also known as ensalada de atun makes for a great afternoon snack. It’s really yummy and flavorful and goes great with crackers or tostadas. It’s a light meal that the whole family can snack on. You may also like this tuna macaroni salad.

What type of tuna should I use?

I used tuna in water. I use tuna in water for all my recipes using canned tuna.

However tuna in oil will also work. Use whichever tuna you’re more comfortable with.

Just make sure to drain the tuna well.

How to make ensalada de atun

Drain the tuna and put it in a bowl. I like to take a fork and flake the tuna with it.

Then add them to the tuna.

Then add the corn.

Add the cilantro, lime juice, mayo and season with salt and black pepper to taste.

And that’s all there is to this super easy recipe!

Variations

Mexican tuna salad is a versatile recipe. You can pretty much use what you have available in your kitchen. For example, some cooks like to add a can of mixed veggies instead of corn. Some cooks like to add sour cream for it’s tang while others prefer to use Mexican crema.

Mexican tuna salad (Ensalada de atún)

This easy and delicious Mexican tuna salad is perfect for lunch or for a snack. Serve it with crackers or tostadas.

Ingredients

  • 12 oz canned tuna drained
  • 1/2 cup corn canned
  • 2 celery sticks finely diced
  • 1/4 piece of white onion finely diced
  • 2 tbs pickled jalapeno chopped
  • 1/3 cup mayonnaise
  • salt to taste
  • ground black pepper to taste
  • 3 tbs chopped cilantro
  • 1/2 lime juice of

Instructions

  1. Put the drained tuna in a bowl.

  2. Add the celery, onion and pickled jalapeno. Mix well.

  3. Add the corn and mix well.

  4. Then add the cilantro, lime juice, mayo and season with salt and black pepper to taste. Mix well.

  5. Serve with crackers and enjoy.
