How do you make tuna salad?

In order to make a tuna melt the first thing we need to do is make a simple tuna salad.

Mine has mayonnaise, celery, black pepper and tuna of course.

However other things can be added in such as chopped onion, pickle relish and mustard.

Mix that together well.

Get out two pieces of bread and butter them each on one side.

I used a whole grain bread for this but you can use the bread of your choice.

Heat up a skillet over medium heat.

Once hot put one piece of bread butter side down in the skillet.

Put two slices of cheese on the bread.

For this I like to use Sargentos sharp cheddar cheese.

However you can use the cheese of your choice.

Now add a few tablespoons of tuna on top.

I also like to add red onions to mine but this is totally optional.

I like the flavor and crunch that it adds.

Now put the other piece of bread on top butter side up.

I pressed down on the sandwich with a spatula that’s why the spatula has butter on it.

Let it cook until the bottom has browned. It will take about two minutes.
