Pineapple is one of our favorite fruits.

Besides just eating the flesh you can also use the peel to make delicious drinks such as tepache and pera-piña.

All I used to make this agua fresca was the pineapple and water.

I got a very ripe pineapple so it was very sweet naturally and I didn’t have to add any sugar.

My kids love this drink.

They both like canned pineapple juice.

But they both liked this fresh version so much better!

Look for a pineapple that’s yellow as they’re really ripe and sweet.

How to make pineapple water

Rinse the pineapple really well under running water. Then cut the pineapple into chunks.

Here is a really good guide on how to do that.

pineapple chunks

Put the pineapple chunks in the blender along with 3 cups of water.

Blend until smooth. You can do this in two batches if your blender isn’t big enough.

Strain the pineapple mixture into a pitcher.

Serve the pineapple agua fresca over lots of ice.

Refrigerate any leftover pineapple water.

Agua de piña (pineapple water)
