This Mexican hot chocolate coffee recipe is so delicious and easy to make. It can also be called a “Mexican mocha”. It combines two of the best things ever. Chocolate and coffee! This Mexican mocha recipe is just the thing you need during the chilly Fall and Winter weather. Make it on the stove top or in a slow cooker. This is the best chocolate coffee drink I’ve ever had!
I first made this Mexican hot chocolate coffee drink a few weeks ago.
It was chilly outside and I was craving a hot drink to sip on I just didn’t know what.
So I went through my cabinets and found Nestle Abuelita chocolate and Nescafe.
That’s when I decided that I was going to make the best chocolate flavored coffee ever!
I was really anxious to see how it would turn out and it was a hit!
What I like most about it is we don’t have to choose between coffee and hot chocolate. We can have both!
What is Mexican mocha made of?
Besides the instant coffee and chocolate tablets this Mexican chocolate coffee is made with a few more ingredients.
The full list of what you’ll need includes:
- Abuelita chocolate
- Mexican cinnamon sticks
- Nescafe
- Mexican vanilla
- Milk
- Half and half
It’s really great how such simple ingredients can create something amazing.
These are all staple items for me so I always have these things in my kitchen.
I’ve said this before but I love how if we just look hard at what we already have in our pantries then we can usually make something delicious from what’s already there.
I try really hard to do this so that I’m not wasting food which I find more important than ever these days as our family grows.
How to make Mexican mocha?
I made this in a slow cooker by combining all the ingredients at once and letting it simmer for about 3 hours on low.
You could also do this on the stove and it will be ready in just minutes!
Also if you don’t have any half and half you can just substitute with more milk. It’s still just as yummy!
I encourage you to experiment with the ratio of the ingredients if you wish.
That way you can find a balance that’s perfect for you and your family.
I know that everyone has different tastes and may prefer things prepared a little differently.
To me, experimenting is part of the fun when it comes to cooking!
