If you love strawberries, you have to try fresas con crema. It’s a Mexican strawberries and cream dessert that’s perfect for the summer time! If you’re looking for more ways to use up strawberries this summer then you’ll have to try this creamy strawberry agua fresca and strawberry horchata!
Now that it’s May it is officially strawberry picking time here in Kentucky.
There’s nothing better than fresh picked strawberries.
They’re always very red, juicy and flavorful. So much better than what you get at the grocery.
Your favorite strawberry recipes will taste even better if made with fresh picked berries.
Besides fresas con crema, other uses for fresh picked berries include agua de fresa (strawberry agua fresca) and a strawberry syrup for homemade vanilla ice cream.
If you’ve never been strawberry picking before, you gotta give it a try.
It’s also fun for children. My oldest two did it for the first time last year and they loved it!

What is fresas con crema?
Fresas con crema literally translates to “strawberries with cream” in English.
It’s a super easy no bake strawberry dessert that takes just minutes to prepare.
It consists of chopped strawberries immersed in a delicious creamy sauce that’s sweet with a bit of tang to it.
What ingredients do I need to make Mexican strawberries and cream?
This no-bake strawberry dessert contains just 5 simple ingredients which include:
- strawberries
- sour cream
- sweetened condensed milk
- evaporated milk
- Mexican vanilla
How to make it
First chop up your strawberries. You can chop them into small pieces or you can slice them. It’s up to you.
Once the strawberries are chopped, we can start making the cream.
Put the sweetened condensed milk, sour cream and vanilla in a bowl.
Stir the mixture well to make sure there are no lumps.
Slowly add in the evaporated milk while stirring,
Add the strawberries. You can always add more strawberries.
This is just the ratio of strawberries to cream that I like.
I like my strawberries to be swimming in the cream basically.
Plus, when all the strawberries pieces are gone the cream is even more delicious if that’s even possible.
Now I know it’s hard not to eat this right away but its way better if you chill the mixture in the refrigerator for at least half an hour.
It’s way better cold.
After chilling the strawberries and cream divide the mixture into two small cups and enjoy!
You’ll fall in love with this delicious treat after just one bite.
Variations
Strawberries and cream is a super easy and versatile treat.
My recipe uses sour cream but you could also use heavy whipping cream, table cream or half and half. Although you won’t get the same tangy flavor or thickness that sour cream provides.
For a healthier version you could use plain yogurt or Greek yogurt.
If you don’t have or can’t find the Mexican vanilla, substitute it with 1 tsp of vanilla extract.
You could also add in some blueberries or blackberries to the cream.
