These soft and buttery chocolate chip cookies are a classic that never get old. They’re warm, comforting, and the whole family enjoys them!
What I really like about this particular recipe is that is has the perfect amount of sweetness to it. We don’t care for cookies that are overly sweet and these too me are the best! The lightly golden slightly crisp edges are my favorite part! And of course the inside is perfectly soft with the right amount of chocolate chips.
This is another great recipe to make with your kids. The dough comes together rather quickly, and they’ll love to help scoop the cookie dough onto the baking sheet. If you’re looking for a simple homemade chocolate chip cookie recipe, this one is easy to make and always a hit.
Why You’ll Love These Chocolate Chip Cookies
- They’re soft with lightly crisp edges
- They have the perfect amount of sweetness
- They contain the perfect amount of chocolate chips
- Are made with simple pantry ingredients
- You can whip them up in just 20 minutes
Ingredients Overview
These cookies are made with simple ingredients you most likely already have in your kitchen.
You’ll need all-purpose flour and baking soda for the dry ingredients.
For the cookie dough, you’ll use softened butter, brown sugar, white sugar, egg, and vanilla extract, which create a rich and flavorful base for the cookies. I love using brown sugar in cookies. It adds a distinct caramel like flavor that regular sugar can’t provide.
And of course you can’t forget the classic chocolate chips!

- 1/2 cup brown sugar packed
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 1/2 sticks salted butter softened
- 1 egg
- 1 tbs vanilla extract
- 1 cup chocolate chips
Instructions
-
Preheat the oven to 350 F. Add the baking soda to the flour and mix well. Next add the softened butter and sugars to a stand mixer. Mix for a few minutes or until creamy.
-
Stop the mixer and add the egg and vanilla extract and continue to mix for another minute.
-
Stop the mixer and add the flour and baking soda to the mixer bowl and mix for 20 seconds.
-
Then add the chocolate chips. Stop the mixer and scrape the sides of the bowl and make sure all the flour is incorporated into the dough.
-
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Use a spoon to scoop out dough balls and place them on the baking sheet. I made 30 small dough balls.
-
Transfer the baking sheet to the oven and bake for 10 minutes. Let the cookies rest for 10 minutes before enjoying!
