Easy Peach Cobbler

Easy peach cobbler with canned peaches topped with vanilla ice cream.

This warm, buttery peach cobbler fresh from the oven is one of the easiest and most comforting desserts you can make at home. The prep time is minimal and the outcome is amazing!

My simple recipe uses canned peaches, some warm spices like cinnamon and nutmeg, and an easy cobbler topping that bakes into a golden crust. As it bakes, the peaches become syrupy and sweet while the topping soaks up all that flavor.

The result is an incredibly easy dessert with the perfect balance of soft peaches and tender cobbler topping. Also I love the way I make it as I feel like it has the appropriate amount of sweeteness to it. Some peach cobbler recipes can be overwhelmingly sweet. However this one is perfect and goes perfectly with a scoop of vanilla ice cream

If you’re looking for an easy homemade dessert that doesn’t require complicated steps or special equipment, this peach cobbler is a great recipe to keep on hand.

Why You’ll Love This Peach Cobbler

  • Made with simple pantry ingredients
  • Easy to prepare with minimal prep
  • Perfect balance of sweet peaches and buttery topping
  • Bakes into a golden, soft cobbler crust
  • Delicious served warm with vanilla ice cream

Ingredients Overview

This peach cobbler uses simple ingredients that come together to create a warm and comforting dessert.

The filling starts with melted butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla, and sliced peaches. As the cobbler bakes, the peaches soften and release their juices, creating a rich and flavorful base.

The topping is made with flour, baking powder, sugar, butter, and milk. This mixture bakes into a soft, golden topping that sits right on top of the peaches.

Using canned peaches makes this recipe especially convenient and perfect for any time of year.

How to Make Peach Cobbler

Start by preheating the oven and placing butter in a casserole dish. The butter melts in the oven and creates the base for the cobbler.

Once the butter has melted, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla extract, and drained sliced peaches are added and mixed together in the dish.

Next, prepare the cobbler topping by combining flour, baking powder, and sugar in a mixing bowl. Cold cubed butter is mixed into the flour mixture, followed by milk to form the batter.

The batter is then poured over the peach filling.

Bake the cobbler until the top is golden brown and the peaches are bubbling.

If the top begins to brown too quickly, loosely tent the cobbler with foil during the last part of baking.

Once baked, let the cobbler sit for about 30 minutes before serving. This allows the filling to thicken and the dessert to finish setting.

Serving Suggestions

Peach cobbler is best served warm.

It pairs perfectly with:

  • Vanilla ice cream
  • Fresh whipped cream
  • A drizzle of caramel sauce

The contrast of warm cobbler and cold ice cream makes this dessert especially delicious and is my favorite way to enjoy it!

Storage

If you have leftovers, store the cobbler covered in the refrigerator.

It will keep well for several days and can be reheated in the microwave or oven before serving.

Tips for the Best Peach Cobbler

  • Drain the canned peaches well before adding them to the dish.
  • Let the cobbler rest for about 30 minutes after baking so it can set properly.
  • If the top browns too quickly, tent loosely with foil while baking.
  • Serve warm for the best flavor and texture.
