I’ve been making arroz con huevo frito a lot recently.

It’s a really quick and easy meal for us which has been super important to me ever since we welcomed our baby girl last year.

Also, it’s becoming increasingly more important to make filling meals for my family that don’t contain meat as it can get way too expensive for a large family like ours.

What do I need to make arroz con huevo frito?

  • butter
  • egg
  • cooked rice
  • sesame seeds
  • soy sauce
  • green onion
  • avocado

I know some people prefer to fry their eggs in oil but I always fry mine in butter. It adds great flavor!

The sesame seeds, soy sauce, green onion, and avocado are all optional but I highly recommend you use them or at least some of them.

This is a very simple meal so the garnishes will help add some flavor and a little texture.

Is egg with rice good?

Yes, it’s absolutely delicious and it’s filling! Plus eggs are a good source of protein.

It’s cheap and most importantly it’s super easy to prepare especially if using leftover rice.

I usually always have leftover white rice in the fridge so all I have to do is heat that up while I fry my egg.

How to make arroz con huevo frito

Since the egg won’t take long to cook it’s a good idea to have the rice already warmed up and sprinkled with some sesame seeds.

Sometimes I even like to toast the sesame seeds. It gives them a nice nutty flavor. You should try it sometime.

Let the egg cook at least until the white is set.

I don’t like sunny side up eggs. I prefer mine over easy.

So I flip my mine and let it cook just a little bit longer. But not so long that the yolk is no longer runny. I do love runny yolk.

However you can cook your egg however you like.

One fried egg in a skillet.

Lay the fried egg on top of the rice. While I do prefer my eggs over easy I have to admit sunny side eggs look so much prettier.

I like to garnish mine with green onion and sometimes diced avocado if I have it. I also like to add some soy sauce.

This is really good y’all. Sometimes I eat it as a late breakfast or sometimes as dinner.

It takes just minutes to prepare assuming you have leftover white rice in the fridge. I usually do.
