How to Cook Canned Green Beans

Canned green beans can be a quick and delicious side dish if you prepare them the right way. Today I’m going to show you how I do it. They are the perfect side to accompany ham!

All you need to make these green beans are bacon grease, garlic powder, black pepper, diced onion (not pictured) and a can of green beans. Also a little salt if you wish.

These green beans are always one of the side dishes we eat during Thanksgiving or Christmas along with my Grandmother’s amazing stuffing.

First just add the bacon grease to a pot over medium heat.

Let the grease heat up then add the diced onion. Saute them for a few minutes.

Then go ahead and add the green beans, garlic powder and a little cracked black pepper. Stir

Simmer the green beans on medium low for about 15 minutes. Then remove from heat and season with a little salt.

These canned green beans are absolutely delicious! They’re definitely one of my favorite side dishes to make. You should definitely give them a try!

Ingredients

  • 28 oz can of green beans
  • 1 1/2 tbs bacon grease
  • 1/4 onion diced
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • salt to taste
  • black pepper optional

Instructions

  1. Heat up bacon grease in a pot over medium heat.

  2. Once hot add the diced onion and saute for a few minutes.

  3. Then add the green beans, garlic powder and a little cracked black pepper. Stir well.

  4. Simmer the green beans on medium low for about 15 minutes.
