Jalapeño Poppers Recipe

This Jalapeño poppers recipe is the perfect appetizer for game day or really any time at all and last night I was craving them. So I made them of course. It was about 8 o’clock at night but I were hungry. Well actually I was just craving  something yummy as usual. And what’s yummier (is that a word?) than bacon and cheese? Nothing, as far as I’m concerned.

The spice level of the poppers will depend on the jalapeños. I’ve had some that weren’t spicy at all and that’s always disappointing. I’ve also had some that were almost too spicy to eat. However the ones I made last night were perfect.

Jalapeño Poppers Recipe Steps

The first thing you’ll need to do is cut the jalapeños in half and scrape the membranes and seeds. We always use a spoon to scrape out the seeds and membranes. It’s much easier than using a knife.

Now the cheeses need to be mixed together. The cream cheese should be softened or you won’t be able to mix it together with the cheddar cheese. I also add a bit of black pepper, ground cumin and garlic powder for extra flavor.

Once the cream cheese and cheddar cheese are mixed well add the crumbled bacon pieces and mix again.

Fill the jalapeño halves with a good amount of the cheese mixture. I used 10 largish jalapeños. I like mine with A LOT of cheese so 10 jalapeños were perfect for us. If you prefer to fill them with less of the cheese mixture then you should use a few more jalapeños.

jalapeño poppers before baking

I bake mine for about 25 minutes. You should keep a close eye on them while baking so that they do not burn.

Jalapeños poppers are always great the next day. Just pop them in the microwave for about 30 seconds. I do want to warn everyone to cut the stems off before you microwave any leftovers. Earlier today I was heating up a few in the microwave and all of sudden I see that the stem is on fire. I took it out of the microwave and cut the stems off all of them and all was good. I guess it’s because the stem was so dry but that had never happened before.

In my opinion this is the best way to make jalapeño poppers. I’ve made them many other ways in the past but I find this one the easiest.

Next time you have a get together I highly recommend you try out this jalapeno poppers recipe they are always a hit! I hope you enjoyed this post and thank you so much for visiting. See you next time!
