An incredibly delicious beef stew recipe made even better with the addition of fish sauce!
Ingredients
- 2.5 lbs bottom round steak
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp ground black pepper
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp dried basil
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
- 1 tsp parsley flakes
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 2 tbs oil plus more as needed
- 4 cloves garlic minced
- 3 tbs minced dried onion
- 1 tsp beef bouillon
- 2 tsp fish sauce
- 1 1/2 cup water
- 3/4 cup sun dry tomatoes
- 2 tbs tomato paste
Instructions
-
Dry the steaks well with paper towels. Beat the steaks with a meat mallet.
-
Add the salt, pepper, oregano, basil, paprika, cayenne pepper, parsley, onion powder and garlic powder to a bowl and mix well. Season the steaks on both sides with the seasonings.
-
Next heat up a large pot over medium heat. Add the oil. Once hot, add two steaks at a time to the pot. Cook on each side for 2 minutes or until nicely browned. Transfer them to a plate then repeat with the remaining steaks adding more oil as needed.
-
Add 1 tbs of oil to the pot if needed and add the minced garlic. Cook for 1 minute. Next add the dried onion, beef bouillon, fish sauce, tomato paste, dried tomatoes and water. Let cook for a few minutes. Stir well to deglaze the pan.
-
Next return the steaks to the pot along with any juices. Bring to a simmer then reduce heat to low and cover. Cook for two hours or until tender. Serve with plain white rice and enjoy!
