Ingredients

  • 1 packet of Maizena
  • 5 cups milk
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1 tsp Mexican vanilla

Instructions

  1. Slowly pour the corn starch mix into one cup of cold milk while stirring. Set aside.

  2. Add the rest of the milk and cinnamon stick to a pot and heat over medium high heat. Constantly stir the milk to prevent it from burning.

  3. Once the milk comes to a boil slowly pour in the cup of corn starch and milk mixture while stirring continuously.

  4. Continue to boil and stir constantly for two minutes. Then remove from heat and stir in the sugar and vanilla.

  5. Let the atole sit for about 10 minutes. This will allow the cinnamon stick to release more of its flavor and the atole will cool a bit.

  6. Serve and enjoy!
