This homemade sandwich bread is soft, fluffy, and perfect for everyday sandwiches and toast. Made with simple ingredients, it bakes into a beautiful loaf with a tender crumb and delicious homemade flavor.
Add the flour, instant yeast, sugar, and salt to the bowl of a stand mixer. Mix to combine.
With the mixer running, slowly add the butter. Then slowly pour in the water.
Mix on medium speed for about 10 minutes until a smooth dough forms.
Shape the dough into a ball and rub about a 1/2 tablespoon of oil all over it.
Place in a bowl, cover, and let rise for about 1 1/2 hours, or until doubled in size.
Punch down the dough and transfer it to a lightly floured surface.
Shape into a large rectangle, then roll it up tightly into a loaf (seam side down).
Transfer to a greased loaf pan, cover, and let rise for another hour.
Preheat oven to 400°F. Bake for 35–40 minutes.
If the top browns too quickly, loosely cover with foil halfway through baking.
Remove from the pan and let cool completely before slicing.
