Homemade Flour Tortilla Recipe

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup water

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl add flour, salt and baking powder. Mix well.

  2. Add the vegetable oil to the flour mixture and mix well.

  3. Slowly add the water while mixing with your hand. Mix and knead the dough for about five minutes.

  4. Shape dough into a ball. Cover and let the dough rest for 30 minutes,

  5. Cut dough into eight pieces.

  6. Flour the surface where you'll be rolling out the dough.

  7. Take one of the pieces of dough and shape into a ball then roll it out into a thin tortilla using a rolling pin. Do the same with the rest of the pieces of dough.

  8. Heat up a large skillet over medium heat. Once hot place one tortilla onto the skillet. Cook for about one minute on each side. Cook the rest of the tortillas.

  9. Serve. If you have leftovers you can store them in a ziploc bag in the fridge for up to five days.
