Atole de vainilla is a delicious hot Mexican beverage similar to champurrado.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup Maseca the one for tortillas
  • 2 cups water
  • 3 cups milk
  • 1 stick of cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup of brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Add the masa harina to a pot and slowly stir in the water until there are no lumps.

  2. Turn heat to medium high and add the cinnamon stick and stir in the milk.

  3. Bring the mixture to a simmer then add the brown sugar to the pot and stir.

  4. Reduce heat to medium and continue to simmer for about 8 minutes stirring often.

  5. Remove the pot from heat. Stir in the vanilla.

  6. Let cool before serving as it's hot.
