Ingredients

  • 4 sweet potatoes scrubbed clean
  • 4 cups water
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 3 whole cloves
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • milk to taste

Instructions

  1. Slice the sweet potatoes into small circles. Try to slice them at the same thickness so they'll cook evenly.

  2. Put the sweet potatoes, sugar, cinnamon stick, whole cloves and water in a pot. Bring to a boil.

  3. Reduce heat to medium and cover. Cook for 30 minutes.

  4. Then uncover the pot and cook for another 10 minutes.

  5. Add the vanilla extract and remove the pot from heat.

  6. Remove the cinnamon stick and whole cloves before serving.

  7. Serve and add milk if desired. Enjoy!
