Tostones Recipe

Tostones are a tasty snack alternative to potato chips.

Ingredients

  • 2 green plantains peeled and sliced
  • 1/3 -1/2 cup of vegetable oil
  • salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat cast iron skillet over medium heat and add oil.
  2. Once oil is hot add the plantains but don't crowd the pan.
  3. Fry for a bout a minute on each side.
  4. Transfer to a paper towel lined baking sheet and flatten each slice with a bowl.
  5. Return slices to frying pan and continue frying on each side until browned and crisp.
  6. Drain on paper towel lined plate and season with salt.
  7. Repeat process with the remaining plantain slices.
  8. Serve.
