Ingredients

  • salsa verde
  • mozzarella cheese
  • 2 cups maseca
  • 1 1/2 cup water

Instructions

  1. combine maseca and water and mix with hands until thoroughly combined.
  2. Form 10 balls of equal size with the masa dough.
  3. Cover the inside of the tortillas press with two squares or circles of plastc or plastic wrap or wax paper.
  4. Press the dough in the tortilla press it should be just a bit thicker than a tortilla.
  5. Cook the gorditas either on a skillet over medium heat on both sides for a few minutes or by frying on both sides until golden brown.
  6. Let the gorditas cool slightly. Then pinch the edges of the gorditas so that they are raised.
  7. Fill gorditas with salsa verde.
  8. Top with cheese and heat in microwave until cheese melts.
