Agua de fresa is the perfect drink to enjoy during the hot summer months as it is refreshing and delicious.

It’s also a great way to use up strawberries before they go bad and it taste so much better than any bottled juice I’ve ever had.

I’m actually inspired now to completely stop buying bottled juices.

I love agua frescas because they are a great and delicious way to consume more fresh fruits.

I would have loved this as a kid instead we grew up on bottled sugary drinks that don’t even taste half as good as this agua de fresa.

The good thing about home made agua frescas is that you can control how much sugar goes into it.

You could definitely decrease the amount of sugar in this recipe if you like.

I like it sweet because I serve mine over ice and if you don’t drink it fast enough it can get a little watered down.

How to make it

All you need to make this yummy beverage is strawberries, water and sugar.

Cut the green tops off the strawberries and discard.

Then chop the strawberries into pieces.

You’ll need three cups of chopped strawberries.

Variations

If you have other fruits you need to use up feel free to get creative. Below are some examples of other fruits you can combine with the strawberries to make a delicious and refreshing summer beverage.

Strawberry banana

Just add a banana to the blender along with the chopped strawberries and blend. You may need to add another cup of water.

Strawberry mango

Add a cup or two of peeled and chopped mango to the blender along with the chopped strawberries and blend.

Strawberry lime

Add the juice of 1-2 limes to the pitcher of strawberry water and stir well.

Tips

  • If you don’t like the strawberry seeds in your drink you can strain the mixture into the pitcher using a fine mesh strainer.
  • You can stir in the sugar a little at a time until you reach your desired sweetness level.
  • Get creative and combine another fruit with the strawberries to create a delicious drink!
